New Delhi: Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that India can adopt the same strategy and select different players for slow and turning pitches in future. On the turning pitch in Colombo, Indian batsmen got trapped in the trap of Sri Lankan spinners, due to which India lost its first ODI series in Sri Lanka after 27 years.

Rohit said that we have to tell the players what we want from them and if we have to select players according to the circumstances, then unfortunately we can do so. We will try to prepare a team that can perform well in all circumstances.

'Players lack confidence'

On the poor performance of Indian batsmen against Sri Lankan spinners, captain Rohit Sharma said that our batsmen did not show any consistency against their spinners. He said that our players lacked confidence because our performance was disappointing on the pitch on which we grew up playing.

'Every player should have a game plan'

The Indian captain said that every player of the team should have a game plan, which he should use on the field. Praising the Sri Lankan batsmen, the Indian captain said that in the three matches, the Sri Lankan players showed consistency in their game. They fearlessly played sweep shots on this pitch and scored runs, due to which we lagged behind.

Defending the batsmen

After losing the third ODI, captain Rohit defended the Indian batting and said that our batsmen tried their best to perform well and many of them played sweep shots contrary to their game. There is no need to take any strict action against this team right now.
