News Topical, Digital Desk : The district court has denied relief to the 14 accused in the case of a young man holding an Iftar party on a boat in the Ganges River in Varanasi during Ramadan. The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Varanasi has rejected the bail applications of all the accused.
During the month of Ramzan, a video of these youths went viral on social media, in which all of them were seen having an Iftar party in a boat. It is also claimed that some bones were also thrown into the Ganga during this time.
Court dismissed bail plea
While giving information to ABP News on behalf of the plaintiff's lawyer, Shashank Shekhar Tripathi said that the river Ganga is not just a river but is associated with the biggest symbol of faith and Sanatan Dharma and this type of act is a direct mockery of faith.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court clearly found that the facts and circumstances did not warrant the grant of bail. Therefore, the bail applications of the 14 accused were rejected by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Varanasi.
Cases have been filed against the accused under these sections
This case falls under the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station in Varanasi. The allegation is that these young men held an Iftar party on a boat on the Ganges River, ate biryani, and then threw the remains into the river. A case has been registered against the accused under serious sections, including sections 298, 299, 196 (1)(b), 279, 223 (B), 308(5), and 67 of the Information Technology Act.
A video of this incident went viral on social media, showing the young men having an Iftar party on a boat. Following this, the police swung into action and arrested all the accused. The incident also sparked intense political debate.
