News Topical, Digital Desk : Devender Yadav On Rekha Gupta Government: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav has expressed concern over the growing problem of crime and drug addiction. He alleged that despite the BJP's 'double engine' government, Delhiites are feeling unsafe. Questioning the inaction of the Delhi Police, he said that crime and open sale of drugs in the capital has made Delhi the 'criminal capital'.

Devendra Yadav said, “Unemployed youth in Delhi are getting trapped in the quagmire of drugs and crime, which is not only endangering their future, but also putting their families on the verge of ruin. Drugs, alcohol and other intoxicants are being sold openly under the nose of the police. There has been a huge increase in the crime rate in the last few years, but the police have completely failed to control them.”

He also targeted the central government and Delhi Police. Yadav said, "Every year around 12,000 crore rupees are spent on Delhi Police, but despite this, crime and drug abuse are not being controlled." He raised the question whether the government has no control over the police or the police is unable to carry out its responsibility?

Congress's awareness campaign

In view of this serious situation, Delhi Congress has decided to take a big step. A comprehensive awareness campaign will be launched against crime and drug addiction in Delhi from 25 May 2025 (Sunday). This campaign will start from Mangal Bazar Road, Swami Shraddhanand College of Badli Assembly. This campaign will be run on different dates in all the blocks of Delhi. Under this-

  • Awareness programmes: People, especially the youth, will be made aware about the ill effects of crime and drug addiction.
  • Submission of memorandum: Block Congress committees will submit memorandum to the police stations of their respective areas demanding ban on crime and drug abuse.

Congress leader Devendra Yadav said, "Congress has always believed in fulfilling social responsibility. The aim of this campaign is to save the youth of Delhi from the clutches of drugs and crime and to build a safe Delhi."

Write a letter to the police commissioner demanding immediate action

He has written a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner demanding immediate action. Yadav has requested the police to strictly ban the sale of narcotics and take effective steps to control crimes. He said, "Delhi Police will have to decide its responsibility so that the chaos spreading in the capital can be stopped."

Question on central and Delhi government

The Delhi Congress president also raised questions on the central government and the BJP government in Delhi. He said, "Union Home Minister Amit Shah held several meetings with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other ministers, but instead of crime decreasing, the situation has become more serious." He asked why the government is failing to make Delhi safe?

It is a collective responsibility to make Delhi drug-free - Devendra Yadav

Delhi Congress has appealed to all Delhiites to join this awareness campaign. Yadav said, "This is not just a Congress campaign but a collective responsibility to make Delhi safe and drug-free. We all have to join hands to make our city free from crime and drug addiction."

This awareness campaign will reach every corner of Delhi. Congress had resolved to start this campaign in its meetings on May 15 and May 20, 2024. Now it is being implemented with full vigor. In the coming days, programs will be organized in various blocks of Delhi, in which youth and their families will be motivated to stay away from drugs and crime.
