News Topical, Digital Desk : Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Agriculture Department to link the complete data of farmers practicing natural farming to the Him Parivar portal by January 20, 2026. The data will include all details related to natural farming. Block-based data of farmers engaged in natural farming will be created and mapped.
While presiding over a review meeting of the Agriculture Department here today, the Chief Minister said that youth will be engaged in natural farming to strengthen the rural economy . He emphasized the importance of adopting this method of farming in the state so that farmers can earn maximum income. "We want to bring revolutionary changes to the natural farming system," he said, adding that he would interact with farmers involved in natural farming at a conference to be held in Hamirpur this month.
Branding and quality of products under the ' Him' brand
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu reviewed various issues related to wheat, maize, and raw turmeric produced through natural farming. He stated that wheat flour produced through natural farming has been marketed under the brand name "Him Chakki Atta," maize flour under the brand name "Him Bhog Makki Atta," and raw turmeric under the brand name "Him Haldi." He directed that expiry date information be prominently displayed on flour packaging. He also stated that these products should contain adequate information regarding their nutritional value. He directed the formation of a special unit to assess this.
Direct payment and support price to farmers
He said that 606.8 metric tons of maize grown through natural methods has been procured, and ₹23.1 million has been deposited directly into farmers' accounts. 2,123 quintals of wheat produced through natural farming was procured at the support price, and ₹13.15 million was transferred to farmers' accounts through DBT.
Turmeric production and natural farming in government farms
The Chief Minister said that providing a support price of Rs 90 per quintal for raw turmeric grown through natural farming is yielding encouraging results. This year, approximately 2,422 quintals of turmeric is expected to be procured from 1,629 farmers. He added that the Agriculture Department is producing various crops using natural farming methods on 25 farms in the state.
