News Topical, Digital Desk : China's ruling Communist Party on Thursday stressed on self-reliance to offset the impact of the US President's tariff war and the resulting global trade tensions at a meeting .

It also approved a new five-year plan to build a more resilient domestic market. It will also include measures to address the consequences of tariffs. The plenary session came ahead of a possible meeting between Trump and Xi at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea from October 30 to November 1.

China's ruling Communist Party has affirmed President Xi Jinping 's crucial leadership as head of the powerful military , while also backing a sweeping reshuffle of top military officers.

The announcement came after a meeting of the Plenum, the 370-member leading body of the Chinese Communist Party. The Plenum called on the country to unite behind Xi. The 72-year-old leader is in his third term in power, becoming the only Chinese leader to do so since party founder Mao Zedong.

According to Reuters, 11 members were replaced at the meeting. This is the biggest change since 2017 amid a military corruption cleanup. Chinese General Zhang Shengmin was promoted to the second-ranking vice chairman of the powerful Central Military Commission

Zhang currently serves in the CMC. He replaces He Weidong, who was expelled from the Communist Party last week along with eight other People's Liberation Army generals on corruption charges.
