News Topical, Digital Desk : A female Naxalite was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Monday. A police officer said the slain Naxalite has been identified as Roopi, a Maoist area commander carrying a reward of ₹5 lakh. She was a member of the Pratappur Area Committee.

Clashes with security personnel during the operation 

The police officer further said that the firing incident took place in the morning in a forested area under the Chhote Bethiya police station area when a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxal operation.

He further said, "So far, the body of a female Naxalite and a weapon have been recovered from the scene. The operation is still ongoing in the area, and further information is awaited." This encounter occurred 12 days after the government declared Chhattisgarh free of armed Maoists on March 31.
