News Topical, Digital Desk : A tragic road accident occurred in Chhattisgarh's Janjgir-Champa district. A horrific road accident occurred late last night on National Highway 49 near Sukli village, under the Janjgir police station area. Five people travelling in a Scorpio returning from a wedding procession in Navagarh collided with a speeding truck, resulting in tragic deaths and three others seriously injured. The severity of the accident can be gauged from the fact that after the collision the Scorpio was torn to pieces and the vehicle was completely damaged.

According to reports, about eight people from Navagarh were traveling in a Scorpio to attend a wedding in Pantora village. While returning late at night, they collided head-on with a truck on NH-49 near Sukli village. Chaos erupted at the scene immediately after the accident. Locals alerted Janjgir police and an ambulance arrived at the scene. Three people died on the spot, while the other injured were taken to the district hospital, where two more succumbed to their injuries.
Two army soldiers also involved
Three seriously injured people have been referred to Bilaspur for better treatment. Two army personnel are said to be among those killed in the accident, one of whom had just gotten married a few days ago. All the deceased and injured were residents of the same neighborhood in Navagarh, which has caused an outpouring of grief throughout the area. A large crowd of relatives and villagers gathered at the district hospital.
After the accident, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Police inspected the scene and registered a case, and a search is underway for the accused driver. Given the severity of the accident and the condition of the vehicle, speeding and negligence are suspected to be major factors. Police have launched an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
