
News Topical, Digital Desk : CBI has arrested two people including an IRS officer on the charge of demanding a bribe of 25 lakhs. Amit Kumar is a single Indian Revenue Service IRS officer of 2007 batch. He was currently posted as Additional Director in Taxpayer Service Department, New Delhi. CBI has arrested him. Along with him, a private person Harsh Kotak has also been arrested.
A bribe of Rs 45 lakh was demanded
A bribe of Rs 45 lakh was demanded from the complainant in the name of tax help from the Revenue Department. Out of this, both of them were arrested red handed by the CBI while taking Rs 25 lakh as the first installment.
Threatened to be implicated in legal matters
The complainant was threatened that if he did not pay the money, he would be implicated in legal cases. He was also threatened of being charged a hefty penalty. After this, the complainant informed the CBI and a case was registered and investigation was started.
CBI raided these places
CBI raided several places of the IRS officer and a private person. These raids were conducted by CBI in Delhi, Punjab and Mumbai locations. During this, a search operation was conducted. CBI collected evidence and caught them red handed while taking bribe.
