The Canadian PM has spoken about improving relations with India. He said he will initiate new partnerships with several countries, focusing on the Asia Pacific region.

Canada eyes Asia Pacific

According to Canadian PM Mark Carney, “We want to strengthen relations with many countries of the world and there can be no better place for this than Asia Pacific. 60 percent of the world's economy comes from this region.”

Talks are going on with many countries

Speaking after attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea, the Canadian Prime Minister said he was discussing a free trade agreement with Indonesia, while talks were also ongoing with the Philippines, Thailand, and China.

Referring to India, Mark Carney said-

Our relations with India are also improving. While I haven't met directly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several ministerial meetings, including with the Foreign Minister, are ongoing.

Mark Carney says he wants to reduce his dependence on the United States by increasing partnerships with other countries. According to Carney, "I know this won't happen overnight; it will take time. But we are moving rapidly towards it."
