New Delhi. Today, the 78th Independence Day (Independence Day 2024) is being celebrated in the country. All banks in the country will remain closed on the occasion of Independence Day. Bank holidays are decided by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Whenever you go to the bank, first check the bank holiday list.

If you think there will be a long weekend this time, then it is not so. Banks will remain open on 16 August and 17 August. Actually, according to RBI rules, banks remain closed on every second and fourth Saturday of the month. Apart from this, banks are also closed on Sundays. Let us know on which days apart from 15 August the banks are going to remain closed.

When will the bank remain closed in August

  • All banks will remain closed on 18th August as it is Sunday.
  • On the occasion of Rakshabandhan on 19th August, banks in Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Itanagar, Kanpur, Lucknow, Shimla will remain closed.
  • Sri Narayana Guru Jayanti is on August 20. Banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed on this occasion.
  • 25th August is Sunday. All banks have a weekly holiday on this day.
  • On the occasion of Janmashtami on 26th August, banks in Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Dehradun, Itanagar, Kanpur, Lucknow, Shimla, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Srinagar and Kolkata will remain closed.
  • All banks will remain closed on 31st August as it is fourth Saturday.
