President Lula spoke to PM Modi
Earlier, on August 7, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the talks between the two leaders, PM Modi said that he had a good conversation with President Lula. Thank you for making my visit to Brazil memorable and meaningful. We are committed to further deepening our strategic partnership in areas like trade, energy, technology, defense, health etc. A strong, people-centric partnership between the countries of the Global South benefits everyone.
'Why should I call Trump...'
Let us tell you that President Lula has decided not to bow down to the tariff terror of US President Donald Trump. He had even said in the past that why should I talk to Trump? I will talk to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping.
Lula had clearly said that he is in no mood to talk to Trump because Trump is 'not ready to talk'. He said, “I will call Xi Jinping, I will call PM Modi. I will not call Putin because he cannot travel right now. But I will talk to many other presidents.”
BRICS includes countries like India, Russia and China. America often accuses these countries of weakening the monopoly of the dollar. Trump has threatened to impose an additional 10 percent tariff on countries supporting BRICS policies.
