News Topical, Digital Desk : A letter threatening to bomb several locations, including schools, was found at a major shopping mall in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Monday (November 24), police said. Police said a handwritten letter was found at Lulu Mall. The letter threatened to carry out bombings at various locations, including schools. Mall officials contacted police upon learning of the letter, and an alert was subsequently issued, they said.

Following the threat, the police and administration were alerted. The letter does not mention any names. Upon receiving the information, police teams, along with dog squads and BDS, conducted checking operations at several locations, including the Hazratganj Assembly constituency. Vehicles were also checked.

Mock drill held at Lucknow airport

Meanwhile, a mock drill based on a bomb threat scenario was conducted at Lucknow Airport to strengthen security and test joint emergency response systems. CISF, in collaboration with several agencies, conducted the mock drill to assess preparedness. The primary objective of this mock drill was to enhance coordination between various agencies, evaluate preparedness, and ensure a prompt and effective response to any potential security challenge.

During the exercise, agencies responded to a simulated bomb threat and executed the entire operation as if it were a real situation. CISF, BDDS, BCAS, LIAL, local police, IB, airlines, ARFF, and medical teams participated in the exercise. All units performed their roles in coordination, demonstrating a coordinated and robust response system. Following the drill, officials stated that all agencies performed well within the prescribed timeframe and SOPs, demonstrating the effectiveness of the security system.

CISF shared information about the mock drill on the social media platform X. In the post, CISF wrote, "Mock exercise conducted on a bomb threat scenario. CISF, in collaboration with key stakeholders, conducted the annual bomb threat mock exercise at Lucknow Airport to assess operational preparedness, enhance coordination, and strengthen the joint response system among all agencies."
