Muzaffarpur. Municipal Commissioner and Managing Director of Smart City Company Naveen Kumar has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh each on two agencies working on the Smart City scheme for not completing the work on time despite the instructions of District Magistrate Subrata Kumar Sen.
While inspecting the Smart City schemes on 31st July, the District Magistrate had strictly instructed Khokhar Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., the agency working on the spinal and peripheral road, to complete the construction work of the remaining road by 15th August.
Despite the District Magistrate's instructions, the agency has not completed the work till now. The agency was given the work of road and drain construction for Rs 38.75 crore for the spinal road from Bairia to Station Road and Rs 20.73 crore for the peripheral road from Station Road to Akhadaghat Bridge.
The agency was accused of not acting swiftly
The agency has been given half a dozen extensions so far, but it is not working fast. Due to this, a fine of Rs 5 lakh was imposed on the agency.
At the same time, after inspecting Kalyani Chowk, the District Magistrate had directed Manmohan Shukla Construction Company, the agency working on the scheme, to complete the construction work of the incomplete drain under the square beautification scheme, but the agency could not complete the work, so a fine of Rs 5 lakh has also been imposed on it.
