News Topical, Digital Desk : Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will not be present at the inauguration ceremony of three projects of Kolkata Metro on August 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate these projects.

A top state government official gave this information on Monday. He said that the decision not to attend the inauguration of metro projects has been taken in the backdrop of alleged harassment of the people of Bengal in BJP-ruled states.

Ashwini Vaishnav had sent the invitation

The top bureaucrat said that in such a situation, the Chief Minister does not want to share the stage with the central government officials. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, in a letter written on August 14, had invited Mamata to inaugurate three metro projects on the coming Friday.

The official claimed that these rail projects were originally planned and funded by Mamata Banerjee when she was the railway minister. After years of slow progress, the BJP is now trying to take credit by inaugurating them before the elections.
