News Topical, Digital Desk : The capital, Patna, is on full alert for Republic Day. The administration has completed preparations for the main ceremony at Gandhi Maidan. The Governor will hoist the flag at Gandhi Maidan on January 26th. In view of this, major changes have been made to security and traffic arrangements. The Patna Traffic Superintendent has issued instructions stating that several major roads around Gandhi Maidan will be closed from 7 am until the ceremony concludes.

Traffic restrictions will be implemented from 7 am.

Starting at 7 a.m. on January 26th, vehicular movement around Gandhi Maidan will be completely prohibited. Goods and commercial vehicles will not be allowed to travel from Chiraiya Tal towards Goriya Toli and Mithapur. Commercial vehicles will also be prohibited from entering the Income Tax Roundabout, or Veerchand Patel Path, from R Block.

Bailey Road and Police Line Road will remain closed

All commercial vehicles will be prohibited from Dumra Chowki to Bhattacharya Mor on Bailey Road. There will also be no vehicle movement on the route from Police Lines to Gandhi Maidan. The public has been advised to use alternative routes during this time.

Reach Gandhi Maidan from Patna Junction through these routes

Autos, e-rickshaws and other commercial vehicles going towards Gandhi Maidan from Patna Junction will be able to turn east from Dak Bungalow intersection and go only till Bhattacharya turn via Exhibition Road.

Vehicles will not travel beyond this point. To reach Gandhi Maidan, people will have to walk from Dak Bungalow Square. The Exhibition Road overbridge will also be completely closed.

Changes in Ashoka Rajpath and Patna City routes

On Ashoka Rajpath, cargo vehicles, city buses, autos, and e-rickshaws coming from the Engineering College side will be diverted at Machhua Toli. All commercial vehicles coming from Patna City will proceed via Musallahpur Haat towards Khajanchi Road.

Public entry to Gandhi Maidan will begin at 7:00 AM. The administration has requested all invited guests to be seated by 8:30 AM. The Governor, Chief Minister, and Deputy Chief Minister will enter through Gate No. 1, located in front of the SBI. VIPs and their vehicles will enter through Gate No. 10, located on Exhibition Road. Media personnel will enter through Gate No. 9, and their vehicles will also exit through this gate.

Separate gates for general public, women and students

Entry for the general public has been arranged through Gates 6 and 7. Seating for the general public will be provided in the viewing gallery inside Gandhi Maidan. Gates 12 and 13 have been designated specifically for women, with a separate gallery for them. Students will be admitted and seated through Gates 2, 3, and 4.

Parking arrangements for two-wheelers, bicycles, and motorcycles have been made outside Gandhi Maidan, on the roadside in front of Udyog Bhawan, or Bakarganj. The administration has appealed to residents to park their vehicles only at designated locations.

Tight security arrangements, surveillance through 128 CCTV cameras

On Saturday, District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan SM and SSP Kartikeya Sharma reviewed security arrangements with officials. A total of 128 CCTV cameras have been installed in and around Gandhi Maidan. Of these, 49 cameras will be active outside the grounds, and 79 will be inside. These cameras, installed by Smart City, will monitor every activity.

Adequate lighting arrangements have been made in Gandhi Maidan and the surrounding areas. 136 LED metal lights, 229 pole lights, and 15 high-mast lights have been installed from 34 light towers. Gandhi Maidan has been divided into four sectors and sub-sectors for law and order. 136 magistrates have been deployed at 77 locations.

Tableaux and parades will be the center of attraction

Tableaus representing 12 departments of the Bihar government will be displayed during the Republic Day celebrations. A total of 21 contingents will participate in the parade. The final rehearsal was successfully held on Saturday. A temporary police station and control room have also been set up at Gandhi Maidan, where surveillance will be conducted through 18 watch towers.
