News Topical, Digital Desk : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who never talked about not giving free electricity, surprised everyone on Thursday (July 17, 2025). He used to say from public platforms that giving free electricity can be harmful for the development of the state and the power system, but the way he posted on his X account and announced to give 125 units of free electricity, it gave everyone the same thought, 'Elections are this year brother'. To be honest, this free electricity has also helped parties win in many states.
The government will have to bear a burden of more than 1565 crores
This announcement of Nitish government in the election year will give relief to both the life and pocket of common people. Now the question is that free electricity will definitely be available from August 1, but how will the increased burden on the government be managed. The total beneficiary families are 1 crore 67 lakh i.e. an additional burden of 937.50 X 16700000 = 1565 crore 62 lakh 50 thousand will fall on the government. Now people are afraid that in lieu of free electricity, the charges on other services may increase. The government will recover its cost from the public. Political expert Kanhaiya Bhelari believes that the government can also take a loan from the bank to manage this increased burden.
Another political expert Santosh Yadav said that how will the Nitish government be able to compensate for this. Now it will increase tax on land, increase tax on registration, reduce tax on insurance. He said that the government can also take a loan. Or it can also be compensated by ending the liquor ban. This will bring 20 thousand crores, due to which tax will not have to be increased on the public and the government will also manage the burden of additional electricity bill. The government can also reduce other taxes with this.
The middle class is happy with the government's decision
Let us tell you that the middle class is happy with the government's decision to give 125 units of free electricity. After Nitish Kumar's announcement of giving 125 units of free electricity every month, RJD leader Shakti Singh said that if there is a strong leader like Tejashwi Yadav in the opposition, then the government has to bow down. Shakti Singh Yadav claimed that RJD has already promised to give 200 units of free electricity, in view of which the Nitish government has announced to give 125 units of free electricity. He said that in the coming days, RJD will also get many other schemes of its manifesto implemented by the Nitish government.
