News Topical, Digital Desk : An important meeting of the Bihar Congress was held in Patna late on Monday (February 2). State President Rajesh Ram, Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru Rus, along with all six Congress MLAs were present. The main agenda of the meeting was the selection of the leader and deputy leader of the legislative party, but despite lengthy discussions, no consensus could be reached
The meeting made it clear that there was disagreement among the MLAs regarding the leader of the legislative party. This is why the party appeared reluctant to make any decisions. The party leadership is aware that announcing a name without consensus could lead to internal resentment, which could even lead to a split.
No decision even after two and a half months of election results
More than two and a half months have passed since the Bihar Assembly election results were announced, yet the leader and deputy leader of the Congress Legislative Party have not been finalized. This situation is considered uncomfortable for the party itself, especially as the budget session of the Assembly has already begun.
According to sources, the party may soon convene another meeting on this issue. The effort is to ensure that the leadership is decided with the consent of all MLAs, so that no discontent arises in the future. The party leadership is currently taking every step with utmost caution.
The meeting took place amid speculation of a split
The meeting comes at a time when speculation about a split within the Congress party is rife. For the past few days, MLAs have been skipping meetings called by the state president at the Congress office in Patna. Meanwhile, the NDA is claiming that all six Congress MLAs may switch sides and join them.
The Congress has a total of six MLAs in Bihar: Manohar Prasad Singh (Manihari), Surendra Prasad (Valmikinagar), Abidur Rahman (Araria), Abhishek Ranjan (Chanpatia), Md. Kamrul Hoda (Kishanganj), and Manoj Vishwas (Faridpur). It is reported that on January 23, the top Congress leadership met with these MLAs in Delhi to try to prevent a split.
Now that the budget session of the Bihar Legislature has begun, questions are swirling in political circles: could a major political game be played during the session? Will Congress MLAs truly switch sides, or will the party avert a crisis by building internal consensus? For now, the answer depends on future meetings and decisions.
