News Topical, Digital Desk : Four children, including the driver, were killed and several others injured when a school autorickshaw collided with a truck in the Maker police station area of ​​Chhapra, Bihar. The incident occurred on the Chhapra-Muzaffarpur NH-722. Police are investigating the matter.

The accident reportedly occurred a short distance from the Rewa Ghat Bridge in the Maker police station area, where the driver and a student, Sonali Kumari, died on the spot. Following the incident, all the injured children were admitted to Sadar Hospital, where two of them died. Another child died in Chapra, but doctors confirmed his death after he was brought to PMCH for treatment. The two children are still undergoing treatment at PMCH. 

The child whose death was confirmed in Patna is Sundaram Kumar, who is estimated to be around 8 to 9 years old. Sundaram's family said that another child was brought to Patna but is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. 

What did the injured eyewitness student say?

An injured eyewitness said she was a student at MM Public School, which operates on Sundays and is closed on Wednesdays. On Sunday, around 2:30 pm, as the children were returning from school in an auto-rickshaw, they were struck by a truck coming from the opposite direction.

The driver and a student died on the spot, while two children died at Chapra Sadar Hospital, and one was confirmed dead after being brought to Patna for treatment. Three children are still undergoing treatment. Chapra District Magistrate Aman Sameer stated that three deaths have been reported so far. Police are investigating the matter and are trying to locate the truck and driver.
