News Topical, Digital Desk : The Aurai police in Bhadohi have arrested three members of an organized criminal gang under the Gangsters Act. This gang had been a source of concern for the police for a long time, committing crimes such as theft, robbery, and fraud in the district. The police arrested the criminals in an encounter.
According to Circle Officer Rajiv Kumar Singh, the gang leader is Pankaj Rao, a resident of Kushinagar. This gang used to conduct reconnaissance on bank withdrawals in a very cunning manner. On February 17th, these criminals targeted an elderly man in the Jayarampur area of Aurai. They snatched the money from the elderly man, who had withdrawn ₹49,000 from the bank, in broad daylight near the Ghosia Overbridge and fled.
Police arrested him after an encounter
It was reported that the police arrested these criminals during an encounter and recovered ₹8,000 in looted money. Pankaj Rao, along with other criminals named Sarvesh Singh and Sakleen, are part of this gang. All three are residents of Kushinagar district and operate an organized network that commits heinous crimes for financial gain.
There was an atmosphere of panic in the area
Rajiv Kumar Singh stated that according to the police chargesheet, this gang was so feared that no one in society dared to testify against them. These criminals were supporting themselves and their families with their ill-gotten wealth. Aurai police have registered a case under Section 3(1) of the Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986.
Property of criminals can be confiscated
Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinav Tyagi has issued a clear warning that criminals who violate law and order will not be spared at any cost. Importantly, after the imposition of the Gangster Act, the police are now closely monitoring the illegally acquired properties of these criminals, which may soon be confiscated.
