News Topical, Digital Desk : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against three accused, including a psychiatrist, in a 2023 case linked to Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
In the second subsidiary charge sheet filed in a Bengaluru court on Thursday, the NIA has charged Anees Fatima, Chan Pasha A. and Nagaraj S. under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Substances Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and Karnataka Prisons Act, officials said on Friday.
NIA files chargesheet against three in Bengaluru terror case
The case was handed over to the NIA from the local police, which was investigating the case, in October 2023. The NIA had previously filed charge sheets against nine accused, including the absconding Junaid Ahmed.
This case, involving the seizure of weapons, ammunition, and digital devices from the criminals, was registered by the Bengaluru City Police in July 2023. These criminals had conspired to spread terror in Bengaluru. Their intention was to undermine India's sovereignty and security. These activities were part of a larger conspiracy.
Other accused include psychiatrist Anees Fatima
The purpose was to facilitate T. Naseer's escape from prison while on his way to court. Naseer was then an undertrial in the 2008 Bengaluru serial bomb blasts cases. The NIA statement said that Anees Fatima, one of the three accused named in the charge sheet, has been identified as Junaid Ahmed's mother.
Sane had provided logistical support and money to Naseer in Bengaluru Central Jail. The investigation also revealed that he played a role in hiding the main accused Salman Khan and helped him escape to Dubai by arranging his travel documents.
Jailed terrorist T. Naseer was provided assistance
Salman was later extradited to India from the Republic of Rwanda. Pasha was an Assistant Sub-Inspector in the City Armed Reserve-South, Bengaluru City.
He illegally received benefits from Salman for sharing information about Naseer. Nagaraj who was a psychiatrist on deputation at Parappana Agrahara, Central Prison Hospital.
He was involved in selling mobile phones to inmates in jail for cash. One of these phones reached Naseer, who used it to plot a terrorist attack with his co-accused.
