News Topical, Digital Desk : Counting of votes for the general elections in Nepal is underway. The Election Commission of Nepal has announced that it will release results for 165 direct (FPTP) constituencies within 24 hours of the start of counting. It also noted that in mountainous areas, it takes at least a day to collect and transport ballot boxes to counting centers. Therefore, the remaining election results will be announced later.

National Independent Party on the verge of a landslide victory

Vote counting continues in Nepal. Initial trends show rapper-turned-politician Balen Shah's Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leading in 62 seats. The Nepali Congress is leading in nine seats, while KP Sharma Oli's Communist Party of Nepal is leading in three seats and the Shramik Shakti Party in one seat. The RSP has won one seat as the vote count continues.

In Jhapa Constituency No. 5, preliminary vote counting trends show Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Balen Shah leading. Out of 1,400 votes cast at Basbari School polling station (A and B) in Kamal Rural Municipality and Moti School polling station (A and B) in Gauradaha Rural Municipality, Balen Shah secured 814 votes. CPN-UML candidate and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is in second place with 384 votes.

Shah's Party Leads

Initial trends from the counting of votes for the Nepal elections show Gen-Z hero Balen Shah's Rastriya Swatantra Party leading in 62 seats. Meanwhile, anti-India Oli and other parties are nowhere to be seen and appear to be lagging far behind
