Another woman died for dowry! Body of a pregnant engineer found hanging in Bengaluru:

News Topical, Digital Desk : The body of a 27-year-old software engineer woman was found hanging from a noose at her residence in Suddaguntepalya in South Bengaluru. The woman's parents have filed a complaint alleging that she committed suicide after being constantly harassed by her husband's family for dowry. The deceased Shilpa was married to Praveen, a former software engineer, two and a half years ago. The couple has a one-and-a-half-year-old child.

The software engineer was a woman

Before marriage, Shilpa had completed her graduation in engineering and worked as a software engineer in Infosys. While Praveen was employed in Oracle. After a year of marriage, he resigned from the job and started a food business.

Pressure was put on her to bring 5 lakh rupees from her maternal home

According to the complaint, Praveen's family had initially demanded Rs 15 lakh in cash, 150 grams of gold jewellery and household items during the wedding. However, these demands were met. Shilpa's family alleged that the harassment continued and repeated demands for additional money and valuables were made. Six months ago, the family claimed that they were pressured to give Rs 5 lakh to support Praveen's business.

Insulted for being dark skinned

Shilpa's parents further alleged that she was insulted for her dark complexion. Her mother-in-law often harassed her by saying, "You are dark and not a good match for my son. Leave him, we will find a better bride for him," the complaint said.

Woman's husband in custody

Police said a case of dowry harassment and unnatural death has been registered at the Suddaguntepalya police station. Praveen has been detained for questioning. An assistant commissioner of police is monitoring the investigation. Shilpa's body has been handed over to her family after post-mortem.

The woman was one and a half month pregnant

Speaking to the media, a relative of Shilpa Panchangamatha questioned the circumstances of her death. If she died by suicide, how did her husband and his family remove her body before the police arrived and why did they initially claim that she had a heart attack? It is a well-planned murder. She was also one and a half months pregnant at the time of her death.
