News Topical, Digital Desk : According to the latest data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), investment in India's equity mutual funds fell by 3.2% to Rs 24,253 crore in April 2025. This figure was Rs 25,017 crore in March 2025. This investment, which is equivalent to about $ 3 billion, is the lowest since April last year. It has declined for the fourth consecutive month. However, the total AUM of the mutual fund industry reached a record Rs 70 lakh crore in April, up from Rs 65.74 lakh crore in March.

Equity and hybrid fund trends
Investment in large-cap funds rose to Rs 2,671.46 crore after two months of decline from Rs 2,479.31 crore in March. Investment in mid-cap funds declined slightly to Rs 3,313 crore from Rs 3,438.87 crore. Investment in small-cap funds fell to Rs 3,999.95 crore from Rs 4,092 crore. Dividend yield funds saw an investment of Rs 51.17 crore in April from Rs 140.5 crore in March. Liquid funds saw a massive inflow of Rs 1.18 lakh crore in April, while March saw withdrawals of Rs 1.33 lakh crore.

How much investment in liquid and passive funds? Investment in sectoral and thematic funds increased to Rs 2,000 crore from Rs 170 crore in March. Investment in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) increased from Rs 10,962 crore to Rs 19,056.7 crore. There was a withdrawal of Rs 5.82 crore in gold ETFs, which was Rs 77 crore in March. In the debt segment, corporate bond funds saw an investment of Rs 3,458 crore, while there was a withdrawal of Rs 414 crore in March. Credit risk funds saw a withdrawal of Rs 301.7 crore, which was slightly more than Rs 294 crore in March. These figures show that investment in equity funds decreased, but the growth of total AUM and investment in areas like liquid and ETFs supported the market. Investors have to pay attention to these trends.
