News Topical, Digital Desk :  Aligarh police is taking swift action against ganja smugglers. Police has arrested two members of a gang who used to bring ganja consignment from Orissa and sell it in Aligarh and other districts. A reward of Rs 25000 has been announced on one of the arrested accused and another accused has a long criminal history of about 31 cases. Police has seized ganja worth more than Rs 5 lakh from the miscreants. Further action is being taken in the case.

Actually the whole case is of Aligarh's Kotwali Iglas. Police and Criminal Intelligence Wing Rural Area have arrested two notorious smugglers involved in drug business under Operation Prahar. A reward of 25,000 has been announced by Mathura Police on one of these accused. Police caught both of them red handed with 27 kg 510 grams of illegal ganja. Police said that the name of the arrested accused is Harishchandra son Brij Kishore (23 years), resident of village Kanka, police station Iglas and the other name is Komal Baghel son Omprakash (35 years), resident of village Kanka, police station Iglas.

Circle Officer Mahesh Kumar said that the arrested accused Komal is a history-sheeter criminal. A reward of Rs 25,000 was declared on him due to a serious robbery incident in Mathura's Jamunapar police station. He said that the accused Harishchandra told during interrogation that he is a truck driver by profession and whenever he goes to Orissa or Andhra Pradesh, he buys ganja from there. He confessed that this time in April he went to Cuttack (Orissa) and bought ganja from an unknown person and brought it to Aligarh in May. After this, he was selling it locally with his partner Komal.

The accused Harishchandra told the police that he was taking the ganja to a safe place to hide it as the rainy season had started, when the police raided and caught both of them. Komal has a very serious criminal history. He has been wanted in more than 29 cases like robbery, dacoity, Gangster Act, murder and drug trafficking in Mathura, Aligarh and nearby districts. His criminal record is recorded as a long list in the police files, which clearly shows that he is a big gangster and drug smuggler of the area. During the arrest, a total of 27 kg 510 grams of ganja was recovered from the possession of both the accused.

Action under NDPS Act
Police took immediate action on this and registered a case in Iglas police station under section 8/20 of NDPS Act. Apart from this, cases of theft and assault are already registered against Harishchandra, while Komal Baghel has a very long and serious criminal history.
