
After the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian government has suspended the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan with immediate effect. Regarding this, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, India has made it clear by suspending the Indus Water Treaty that now blood and water cannot flow together.
This statement of Chief Minister Dhami came after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which many tough decisions were taken in view of the seriousness of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Initial investigation has confirmed the links of this attack with Pakistan.
Dhami said, "India has given a befitting reply to Pakistan by suspending the Indus Water Treaty. This decisive decision will shatter Pakistan's plans to shelter and promote terrorism."
"Terrorism will not be tolerated at any cost"
Describing the decision as "historic and tough", the Chief Minister said that it has sent a clear message to Pakistan that India will no longer tolerate terrorism at any cost. He also said that other decisions like closing the Attari border crossing have also shown India's strong intentions.
Dhami said, "These bold steps are not only proof of India's zero tolerance policy towards terrorism, but also send a clear message to the enemies that India is ready to give a befitting reply to every terrorist attack." Let us tell you that the Indus Water Treaty is a historic water sharing treaty between India and Pakistan in 1960, which India had fulfilled till now under international responsibility.
