News Topical, Digital Desk : Controversies surrounding work culture are emerging in the IT sector these days. First, TCS, then Infosys, and now Tech Mahindra are in the news. The latest controversy began when a screenshot of a post by Bombay High Court lawyer Ashutosh K. Dubey went viral on X. The post claimed that the canteen at the Goregaon office in Mumbai had been declared a footwear-free zone for namaz and iftar during Ramadan.
However, the company has vehemently denied these allegations. Tech Mahindra stated that an internal investigation found these claims to be completely false and baseless. The company stated that it does not discriminate on the basis of religion and is committed to providing an equal and respectful environment for all employees.
Several arrests have been made in the TCS sexual harassment case.
It's worth noting that the TCS Nashik case was the first to come to light in this controversy. Employees there made serious allegations of sexual harassment, intimidation, and religious coercion. Based on the complaints, nine FIRs were filed. The police expanded the investigation and contacted the NIA, ATS, and state intelligence agencies. Six employees and one AGM have been arrested so far, while one accused woman remains at large. The investigation also revealed that some senior employees were targeting juniors.
Infosys reiterates 'zero tolerance' policy in Pune dispute
Infosys' name later became involved in this incident. Some posts surfaced on social media regarding the Pune-based BPM unit, alleging mistreatment of female employees. Although these posts were later removed, the issue had gained traction. Infosys subsequently issued a statement stating that it has a zero-tolerance policy against harassment and discrimination. According to the company, every complaint is independently investigated, and employees are given ample opportunity to express their views openly.
