Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban government's chief spokesman, said Afghan forces had captured 25 Pakistani military posts, killing 58 soldiers and wounding 30 others. The fighting comes as Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is visiting India. Pakistan launched an airstrike on Afghanistan just as Muttaqi began his visit.
According to local sources, heavy fighting is underway between Afghan border forces and Pakistani troops in the Rub Jaji district of Paktia province.
