Russia occupied it in 2014

Russia occupied Crimea in 2014. Before that, this part was with Ukraine. Zelensky has refused to hand over Crimea to Russia on several occasions. Donald Trump wants a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia at all costs.

The peace proposal includes an immediate ceasefire between the two countries. The outline was also shared with Ukrainian and European officials in Paris on Thursday.

Rubio held talks with Lavrov

CNN, quoting its sources, informed that there was a phone conversation between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about this proposal. Discussions are still going on on some parts of the proposal. The US will discuss this with Europe and Ukraine in London next week.

The US on Thursday outlined a peace proposal to its allies in Paris that includes an end to the war and the easing of sanctions on Moscow in the event of a permanent ceasefire.
