Hyderabad: When we order food from Zomato, we trust that the food from Zomato will be fresh and healthy. But how will you feel when you come to know that Zomato is also being negligent. Actually, NDTV reported that during an inspection at the Zomato warehouse in Hyderabad, food safety officials found that 18 kg of button mushrooms packed for October 30, 2024 were dated further. Officials found that the warehouse did not have proper insect-proof screens and some food handlers were not wearing hair caps and aprons.

Officials inspected the Zomato warehouse on the 29th

NDTV reported in its report that food safety officials had inspected the Zomato warehouse on the 29th. The raid was conducted at Zomato's Hyperpure warehouse in Kukatpally, Hyderabad. The warehouse is operated by an FBO (food business operator) operating with a state license. FBO supplies fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, gourmet foods, packaging, consumables, kitchen equipment, etc. to hotels, restaurants and caterers.

Packing with a future date is a food safety violation

Packing with such a future date is a food safety violation and comes amid authorities highlighting serious food safety issues ahead of Diwali at sweet shops, a momo outlet and shawarma units at some locations following health complaints.

Flies were also found in the warehouse and some food handlers were not wearing hair caps

Officials also found houseflies inside the warehouse and found that the warehouse did not have proper insect-proof screens and some food handlers were not wearing hair caps and aprons. This is despite the warehouse having its own license, medical fitness certificates for food handlers, and pest control records. Zomato is yet to respond to the incident.

Blinkit warehouse was raided in June

Earlier, a Blinkit warehouse at Devar Yamjal in Medchal Malkajgiri district near Hyderabad was raided in June. There too, expired items were being prepared for supply and contaminated food was found there too.
