
News Topical, Digital Desk : Bihar's Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said in Patna on Friday that three important decisions have been taken regarding the sharing of river water in a high-level meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister in Ranchi on Thursday. These decisions will give impetus to long-pending projects and will give a new direction to the state in the field of water management.
Indrapuri Barrage dispute resolved- Vijay Chaudhary
The minister said that the long-standing dispute related to the Indrapuri Barrage on the Son River has now ended. With its resolution, the way has been cleared to take forward the Indrapuri Reservoir Scheme. This scheme will play a decisive role in improving the irrigation system of many districts of the state.
The second important decision is related to Phulwaria Branch (West Bengal). It was decided in the meeting that the incomplete works of this project will now be given priority and the construction work will be carried forward at a fast pace. This decision will prove to be very useful for the Bihar-Bengal border area in terms of water supply and agriculture.
Minister Vijay Chaudhary said that now the central government will take active steps on the problem of silt in rivers. It was agreed in the meeting that the Center will soon bring the National Silt Management Policy, which will solve the challenges of the states regarding flood management and water holdings of rivers.
Update on pension dispute between Bihar and Jharkhand
In the press conference, Vijay Chaudhary said that now there is hope of a solution to the dispute regarding the pension of employees between Bihar and Jharkhand. The Supreme Court has constituted a committee on this issue, which will submit its report by 15 August. Further decision will be taken on that basis.
