News Topical, Digital Desk : Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor's romantic comedy film 'Param Sundari' has been released in theatres. The trailer of this film was appreciated. People were curious to see the pair of Janhvi-Siddharth on screen for the first time. Let's see whether these two actors lived up to the expectations of the audience or not:
What is the story of Param Sundari?
This is the story of Delhi's Param (Sidharth Malhotra) who has lost crores of rupees by investing in many startups. He gets the idea of an app called Find Your Soulmate. Soulmate means true love... lifelong companion. For this, you have to register your profile. Param finds his soulmate in a village in Kerala. He decides to go to Kerala to test the credibility of the app. Regarding the investment of money, his father Parmeet Sachdev (Sanjay Kapoor) puts a condition that he has to find his soulmate within a month.
Param sets out for a remote village in Kochi with his childhood friend Jaggi (Manjot Singh). As soon as they leave the airport, their car meets with an accident. They travel in a bus and reach the village with the help of a boat. During this time, he remembers that Param invests in technology. He knows that Kerala is the most literate state, yet he does not call a cab or taxi. Anyway, as soon as he meets Sundari, he becomes enamored with her. During this, his superficial knowledge about the artists of North India and South India becomes the reason for a quarrel. Then when both of them come closer, Sundari gets engaged to her childhood friend Venu (Siddharth Shankar). Now the story is about how Sundari and Param will unite.
In an attempt to show the beauty, the story got messed up
Obviously, the culture, lifestyle and environment of Kerala will be seen in detail in Sundari. All of that is present in abundance in the film. Cinematographer Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran has depicted the natural beauty of Kerala very well. However, the film ' Param Sundari', which is promoted as a romantic comedy , has neither romance nor comedy.
The story written by Gaurav Mishra, Arsh Vora and Tushar Jalota proves to be very weak right from the conflict between Param and Sundari to the blossoming of love and its realization. The relationship between childhood friends Venu and Sundari has also not been portrayed properly. Punjabi son Param takes the lead in a boating competition. How did the writer-director forget that this requires a lot of experience and practice. He also climbs a coconut tree very easily. This is surprising. During Sundari's engagement, a person's head is hit by a bottle and blood starts flowing from his forehead, but the nurse gives him an injection for pain. It seems that the writer himself forgot where the injury occurred. Due to the weak screenplay, the film Param (excellent) could not become despite beautiful visuals.
There is no chemistry between Jhanvi and Siddharth
For the first time, Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor have appeared together on screen but the chemistry between them has not been interesting. Whether it is the feeling of love or the truth of Param being revealed, the lack of emotions is visible throughout the film. Siddharth Malhotra shows off his six pack abs here, but seems to be struggling to internalize Param's awkwardness, stupidity and foolish actions. Janhvi Kapoor has learned Malayalam to make the character believable. Her hard work in that is a problem.
She leaves an impact in some scenes. Sanjay Kapoor's part is nothing special but he adds some color in the last few scenes. Manjot Singh is in his usual style in the role of friend, but now he should take a break from playing friends and look for a strong role. Inayat Verma's work in the role of Sundari's younger sister is commendable. However, romantic films can leave an impact only when you feel connected to the hero and heroine's love story and their struggle. Here, this will be missing from the beginning till the end.
