The French woman whom Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned on Yoga Day in Srinagar is named Charlotte Chopin. Charlotte is 101 years old. She learned yoga at the age of 50 and since then has dedicated her entire life to yoga. Even at this age, Charlotte is active as a yoga teacher. Seeing her dedication towards yoga, President Draupadi Murmu honoured her with Padma Shri this year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "You will remember that this year, a 101-year-old female yoga teacher from France was given the Padma Shri award in India. She never came to India, but she dedicated her entire life to promoting yoga."
