Bangladesh's interim government advisor Muhammad Yunus has made a controversial statement about Northeast India. Actually, a video of him is going viral, in which he advocated the expansion of the Chinese economy. He not only described the northeastern states as landlocked but also said that Bangladesh is the only guardian of the sea present in this region.

Indian leaders have strongly condemned this statement of Mohammad Yunus. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma called this statement of Mohammad Yunus provocative and unacceptable.

Writing a post on the social media platform X, he said that there is a need to develop strong railway and road networks to connect the Northeast with mainland India. He appealed that strong rail and road networks should be developed under and around the Chicken Neck Corridor.

Tipra Motha Party leader advocated breaking up of Bangladesh

At the same time, Tipra Motha Party chief Pradyot Manikya took a dig at Bangladesh and said, instead of spending billions of rupees on engineering challenges, we should break Bangladesh and ensure our sea access. The tribal communities settled in Chittagong Hill Tracts wanted to stay with India since 1947. Millions of Tripuri, Garo, Khasi and Chakma people are still living in bad conditions in Bangladesh. We should use this issue for our national interest and their welfare.

Government is not taking care of Manipur: Congress

Congress has also expressed concern over the statement of Mohammad Yunus. Congress leader Pawan Khera wrote on Twitter, "Bangladesh is inviting China to encircle India. This attitude of the Bangladesh government is very dangerous for the security of our North East region. The government is not taking care of Manipur and China has already settled a village in Arunachal. Our foreign policy is in such a pathetic state that the country in whose formation India played a major role is also engaged in mobilization against us today.

What is Chicken Neck?

Let us tell you that Chicken Neck is also known as Siliguri Corridor. It is an area of about 20-22 km wide and 60 km long. This 22 km long route connects the mainland of India to the northeastern states (Seven Sisters). It is as thin as the neck of a chicken.
