Udai Pratap College Controversy: After the claim of Waqf on Varanasi's Uday Pratap College, the protest of the students is continuing. The Central Sunni Waqf Board has rejected the claim of the Waqf Board. On the notice of the Waqf Board, the Central Sunni Waqf Board has clarified that the Central Sunni Waqf Board has issued a letter in this regard and clarified that Wasim Ahmed's claim has been rejected in the year 2021. No action has been taken by the Waqf Board nor does the Waqf Board have any claim on the property of the college.
Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board said in the letter issued that "Please take the trouble of referring to your letter dated 03.12.2024 addressed to the Chairman, Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board. Through which it has been requested to inform about the current status of the notice issued by the UP Sunni Central Waqf Board in the year 2018 regarding the mosque situated inside the campus of UP College Varanasi."
The order of 6 December 2018 has been cancelled.
The letter further stated that "It is to be informed in this regard that the notice dated 06.12.2018 under Section 36(7) of the Wakf Act, 1995 issued by the then Assistant Secretary, Ale Ateeq, has been cancelled by the order dated 18.01.2021 of the Chairman, UP Sunni Central Wakf Board. No action in pursuance of the said notice is underway in this office. Please be informed as above."
It is worth noting that Varanasi's Uday Pratap College has been claimed to be a Waqf property, after which this matter is in the headlines. Amidst the Waqf claim, on Tuesday, a large number of students recited Hanuman Chalisa near the mosque built in the college campus and protested against the Waqf claim. During this, the protesting students raised slogans of Jai Shri Ram.
