Samajwadi Party (SP) president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav raised several serious questions while discussing the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. He also targeted the 'double engine' government of Uttar Pradesh. He said that there were flaws in the arrangements of Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, due to which the people who believe in Sanatan Dharma are deeply saddened. Akhilesh Yadav also alleged that the state government failed to manage the traffic system properly, due to which people had to get stuck in a 300 kilometer long jam in Prayagraj.
Akhilesh Yadav said, "People were facing problems in Prayagraj and no facilities were being provided for the yatra. This picture is sad and it has hurt the followers of Sanatan Dharma." He also accused the administration of not giving correct information about the stampede during the Maha Kumbh. Yadav raised this question, "Should there be such a picture where you are not able to manage the traffic properly?"
Sarcasm on the Union Budget
The SP president also criticised the Union Budget. He said that no roadmap to make India a developed nation is visible in this budget. He also alleged that the budgets presented in the last 10 years did not bring any concrete results and referring to the problems of Indian immigrants, quipped, "Were these budgets made so that the world can see that Indian people were sent back with handcuffs on their hands and shackles on their feet?" Akhilesh also quipped referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's US visit, "Last time Modi ji took diamonds, this time take gold chains and bring back some more people."
Sarcastic remark on the 'double engine' government
Akhilesh Yadav accused the 'double engine' government of Uttar Pradesh of committing 'double blunders'. Citing the promise of doubling the income of farmers, he said that the government has no roadmap to fulfill this promise. Yadav said that nothing was done about the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the government ignored Swaminathan's advice on this issue. He also said that farmers' loans should be waived and GST on agricultural products should be removed.
Reminded me of demonetisation
The SP MP also expressed concern about India's economy. He said that even though India's economy has reached the third place in the world, there are no employment opportunities in the country. He said, "At the time of demonetisation, a child was born in the queues in front of the banks, who was named 'Khazanchi'. Now he has grown up and I will ask the government to adopt this Khazanchi."
Akhilesh Yadav also said that no concrete steps were taken in the budget for the upliftment of backward, Dalit and minority communities. He raised the question that when 80 crore people in the country have to be given free ration, is this the true picture of India's development? He said, "This government gave Bharat Ratna to MS Swaminathan, but his words were not implemented. Farmers do not seem to be getting their rights."
Investment claims in Uttar Pradesh
He also criticized the investment claims made in Uttar Pradesh. He said that the investment claims made by the state government are limited to advertisements, while no concrete effect is visible on the ground level. Yadav finally said, "This budget has four engines, but one engine after another failed, so four engines have been installed."
