Varanasi. Taking bribe proved costly for the postal inspector posted in the main post office on Tuesday. A four-member CBI team from Lucknow caught the inspector red-handed while taking 10 thousand rupees from a Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) for transfer. The team arrested him and took him to Lucknow headquarters. He is being questioned there after completing the paperwork.

The GDS had requested the Postal Inspector (SDI North) Mandeep Kumar posted at the main post office in the cantonment area for a transfer due to family reasons. In return, he was being asked for Rs. 10,000. When he expressed his inability to do so, the case was put on hold. Fed up with this, the GDS complained about it to the CBI .

As per the directions of the CBI team, a plan was made to catch the accused. As per the plan, the GDS went to give the money at around 6 pm on Tuesday evening. As soon as he took the money, the CBI team caught the postal inspector. He was arrested after making him wash his hands and taking other actions. To provide easy access to postal department services to consumers, postmen have been deployed in every village.

It is being said that the game of bribery was already going on in his transfer. Due to compulsion, the postal servants were also compromising with this, but this time things did not work out and the case of bribery came to light.
