
Dehradun: Two minor girls, who had run away from home to meet a friend they had made while playing the online game 'Free Fire', were rescued safely by the police from Vikasnagar area of Punjab district and handed over to their families. Police said that both the girls aged 13 and 17 were traced to a bus stand in Rajpura, Punjab with the help of electronic surveillance and from there they were brought here and handed over to their families.
What is the whole matter?
According to the information received, a resident of Vikasnagar lodged a complaint with the police and told that his 13-year-old niece living with him and her 17-year-old friend living in the neighborhood had gone somewhere together on February 2 without informing him and they could not be traced even after a lot of searching. Police said that on the basis of the complaint, a case was immediately registered under section 137 (2) of the Indian Justice Code and investigation was started. The police team interrogated the family members, people living nearby and friends of the missing minors and the footage of nearby CCTV cameras was examined.
Girls found at bus stand in Rajpura
Police said that information about the two missing girls was also circulated on social media and through electronic surveillance, police came to know that both of them were in Ambala, Haryana, after which police left for there but in the meantime, the girls' location was found to be out of there. According to police, during this time, through surveillance, they were found to be at a bus stand in Rajpura, Punjab, where police reached and recovered both the girls safely.
Police handed over to the family
According to the officer, during interrogation, both the girls told that they had run away from their house on their own to meet a friend they had made during the online game 'Free Fire'. Police said that both the girls denied any kind of criminal act happening with them, after which they were handed over to their families.
