Cold wave to hit again... Rain and snowfall warning in several states, weather department issues alert

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms in nine states, including North India, between January 22nd and 25th. According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour are expected during this period, causing temperatures to drop again. Dense fog in the mornings could worsen people's problems.

Heavy rain and thunderstorm warning issued in 9 states

According to the Meteorological Department, moderate to heavy rain is expected in many parts of Haryana, Uttarakhand, western Uttar Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan between January 22nd and 25th. Strong winds with speeds of up to 40 kmph are expected during this period. Heavy rain and snowfall are also expected in the western Himalayan region between January 22nd and 24th. On January 20th, rain accompanied by lightning may increase difficulties for people in Himachal Pradesh. Scattered to widespread light to moderate rain is expected in Punjab between January 22nd and 25th. Additionally, a warning for heavy rain and snowfall has been issued for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on January 20th, 21st, and 23rd. Strong storms with speeds of up to 50 kmph are expected during this period. 

Weather pattern in Delhi

The minimum temperature in the national capital, Delhi, is expected to be around 8 degrees Celsius today, January 20th. The afternoon will be sunny, providing some relief. However, a warning has been issued for light to moderate rain in the capital starting January 23rd. Dense fog will persist in the mornings for the next three to four days, while the cold wave will provide some relief.

Cold wave and rain in UP

A cold wave warning has been issued for more than 10 cities in Uttar Pradesh on January 20th. Cold winds will blow at 10–15 km per hour in the morning in Ayodhya, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Barabanki, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. The maximum temperature in Lucknow today is expected to be 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 11 degrees Celsius. A warning has been issued for moderate to heavy rain between January 22nd and 25th.

Weather will change in Bihar

Bihar will experience a change in weather starting January 20th. Temperatures may drop by 1 to 2 degrees in Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Buxar, Siwan, Bhojpur, Saran, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Kishanganj, and Khagaria. The maximum temperature in Patna today is expected to be 21 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 13 degrees Celsius.

Weather condition in Haryana and Punjab

According to the Meteorological Department, cold weather will persist in Haryana until January 26. Meanwhile, a dense fog warning has been issued for Amritsar, Patiala, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mohali, Bathinda, Ferozepur, and Hoshiarpur in Punjab between January 20 and 22. A rain alert has been issued from January 23.

Alert in Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan as well

The weather in Jammu and Kashmir will remain normal until January 21, but moderate to heavy rain, snowfall, and strong winds of 40–50 km per hour are possible between January 22 and 25. Rain is also expected in some districts of Rajasthan on January 22 and 23, which could cause temperatures to drop in Sikar, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bharatpur, and Sriganganagar.

Cold will increase again in Madhya Pradesh

There will be relief from cold in Madhya Pradesh till January 21, but due to light rain on January 22 and 23, the temperature may drop in many cities including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain.

The situation in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

The weather in Uttarakhand may deteriorate on January 20. The minimum temperature in many areas may reach 4 to 5 degrees Celsius. On January 23, a warning of light to moderate rain has been issued in Nainital, Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar. Apart from this, the weather may change in Himachal Pradesh today. The maximum temperature in Shimla may be 14 degrees and the minimum 2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, heavy rain and snowfall from January 23 is expected to affect public life. Today the maximum temperature in Manali may go up to minus 3 degrees and the minimum to minus 15 degrees Celsius.
