. The festival of Tulsi Vivah is celebrated every year. It is believed that on this day Lord Vishnu and Goddess Tulsi were married in the form of Shaligram. According to the Panchang, Tulsi Vivah will be celebrated on November 13 (Tulsi Vivah 2024 Date). Let us tell you in this article why Lord Vishnu married Tulsi for the second time?

Story of Tulsi marriage (Tulsi Vivah ki Katha)

According to the legend, Jalandhar's wife's name was Vrinda. She was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Her husband had created terror, due to which all the gods and goddesses were troubled. To get rid of the atrocities of that demon, all the gods and goddesses went to Lord Vishnu, the savior of the world, and told him everything.

He said that Jalandhar can be defeated only after destroying Vrinda's chastity. For this, Shri Hari took the form of Jalandhar. In such a situation, Vrinda touched him thinking him to be her husband, due to which Vrinda's devotion to her husband was broken. Due to this, all the powers of Jalandhar were destroyed and Lord Shiva separated his head from the body during the war.

Mother Lakshmi said this to Vrinda

When Vrinda came to know that she had been deceived, she was filled with anger, due to which she cursed the Lord of the world. She cursed the Lord to become a stone, which Lord Vishnu accepted and he became a stone. Seeing this, Mother Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, was very sad and she asked Vrinda to take back her curse.

Vrinda freed Lord Vishnu from the curse

After this, Vrinda freed Lord Vishnu from the curse, but after this Vrinda herself committed suicide. A plant grew at the place where Vrinda was burnt. Lord Vishnu named this plant Tulsi. Lord Vishnu also said that his form will be worshipped along with Tulsi. This is why Shaligram is married to Tulsi the next day of Devuthani Ekadashi.
