Newly elected President Donald Trump will take oath of office on January 20. Before that, he has included Hollywood in his fix-it list. He has appointed Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone and John Voight as his special ambassadors for Hollywood.
Trump said in a social media post that Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone and Jon Voight will be his "eyes and ears" at the entertainment capital. Trump further said that his goal is to "bring back Hollywood, which has lost so much business overseas in the last 4 years, bigger, better and stronger than ever before!"
'It will happen again...the Golden Age of Hollywood!'
Trump's decision to choose the actor as his chosen 'ambassador' underlines his engagement in the 1980s and '90s.
When he was a rising tabloid star in New York, Gibson and Stallone were among the biggest movie stars. Trump wrote on Truth Social - 'It will happen again ... Golden Age of Hollywood!'
This initiative surprised each and every one of the participants.
In the statement, Gibson said
'I found this post just like all of you and was so shocked.
Still, I heeded the call.' He added, 'Is there any chance that the position comes with an ambassador's residence?'
How was the US production?
US production has been hampered in recent years, including by the pandemic, the 2023 guild strike and the ongoing wildfires last week. Total production in the US was down 26% from 2021.
