The theme of the display of tableaux in the upcoming Republic Day parade is 'Golden India: Heritage and Development'. This time 15 states and union territories have been selected to present tableaux on the path of duty on January 26. This information was given by the Ministry of Defense on Monday. The Defense Ministry said that the states and union territories selected include - Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Apart from this, 11 ministries and departments of the Central Government have also been selected for the Republic Day celebrations of 2025, the ministry said in a statement.
This will be the theme this time
The statement said, "Every year the states / union territories and ministries / departments of the central government display their tableaux on the path of duty as part of the Republic Day celebrations (RDC). The theme of the tableaux for RDC-2025 has been decided as 'Swarnim Bharat: Heritage and Development'. It said, "All the states and union territories, whether selected for the path of duty or not, are invited to display their tableaux during Bharat Parv (January 26-31) at the Red Fort." The ministry said in a statement that tableaux are one of the important components of the Republic Day parade. The statement said that due to the time allotted for tableaux in the total duration of the parade, "the tableaux are selected by the expert committee."
How is the selection done
The statement said, "While evaluating the tableau ideas presented by various states/union territories and ministries, key aspects such as conceptual uniqueness and innovation, creative expression with a clear, communicable message, a combination of subtlety as well as directness, balance between heritage and development in each tableau, exclusion of repetitive ideas, special attention to details such as colour, form, texture, flow, rhythm, proportion and balance, ensuring a well-organised aesthetic experience of grand scale were taken into consideration for selection." The statement said that since the beginning of the year, the Defence Ministry has adopted a "consultation process" to decide on various activities related to the tableau.
Meeting held in April 2024
The statement said, "A meeting was held at the level of senior officials in April 2024 to discuss the improvement in the quality of the tableau. Various suggestions received through this have been incorporated in the process. The theme for the tableau was also decided on the basis of suggestions received from the States / Union Territories. The ministry said in the statement that there is a well-established system for the purpose of selection of tableaux to participate in the Republic Day Parade, according to which the Ministry of Defense invites proposals for tableaux from all the States / Union Territories and Central Ministries / Departments. The statement said, "The proposals for tableaux received from various States / Union Territories and Central Ministries / Departments are evaluated in a series of meetings of the Expert Committee, which includes eminent persons from the field of art, culture, painting, sculpture, music, architecture, choreography etc.
The ministry said in a statement, "The entire selection process is robust, fair, transparent, merit-based and free from any bias. The selected tableaux will showcase India's diverse strengths and its ever-evolving cultural inclusiveness, which is moving towards a glorious future, and will showcase 'Golden India - Heritage and Development' to the world audience. "
