When Shankaracharya reached this place fascinated by the illusion of Divine Jagadamba, he could not move ahead of Ganesha's idol and fell unconscious at the same place.

Adiguru Shankaracharya started to suffer from thirst. Then a little girl came to him and gave him water to drink. After regaining consciousness, Adiguru Shankaracharya, on the strength of his penance, saw Goddess Kali and prayed to calm the fierce form of Mahakali.
