To stop migration by providing employment in border villages, ITBP has decided to buy local products. For this, ITBP has signed an agreement with Arunachal Pradesh.

ITBP's efforts may soon lead to similar agreements with Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. ITBP will strengthen the Kadam Vibrant Village Scheme, which focuses on providing facilities like roads, communication, education, electricity, hospitals in border villages as well as providing employment opportunities to the people there.

Goods will be purchased locally

Under this agreement made under the Vibrant Village Scheme, fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, dairy and other locally available products will be supplied from the villages to the ITBP unit deployed in Arunachal Pradesh. For this, cooperative societies will be formed in the villages under the Vibrant Village Scheme, which will ensure the supply of these products.

The signing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Agriculture Minister Gabriel Denwang Wangsu and senior state government officials. The MoU underlines the commitment to supply local products such as fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, dairy and millets from the participating villages to the units located in Arunachal Pradesh.

Agreement was signed in the presence of CM

The agreement was signed by ITBP Inspector General Akun Sabharwal and Arunachal Pradesh Agricultural Marketing Board (APAMB) CEO Okit Palling. Speaking on the occasion, Khandu expressed the state government's commitment to boosting economic development in the border areas and stressed the importance of improving local livelihoods.

Wangsu also highlighted the important role of the cooperative sector in facilitating this supply chain. As part of this agreement, the ITBP will source locally produced goods from the villages involved in the VVS through local cooperatives.

It will help in stopping migration

The aim of this initiative is to strengthen the local economy and promote sustainable livelihoods, as well as enhance security on the international borders of Arunachal Pradesh. It is believed that this scheme will not only stop new migration to the border villages, but will also help in the return of those who have already migrated.

Along with this, it will also help in increasing the communication and trust between the local communities and ITBP personnel, which will strengthen the security of these remote areas. It is worth noting that the villages getting empty due to migration in the border areas are considered a big challenge for security.
