A Nepal Buddha Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Monday morning after an engine caught fire. The plane had 72 passengers and four crew members on board who are completely safe.
Why was an emergency landing made?
According to a statement issued by Tribhuvan International Airport and the Civil Aviation Authority, the Chandragadhi (Bhadrapur)-bound aircraft (BHA953) took off from TIA at 10:37 am local time. After it was discovered that the left engine of the aircraft had caught fire, it flew on VOR (Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range) to Kathmandu and made an emergency landing at 11:15 am.
The passengers were sent by another plane
A separate aircraft was arranged to take the passengers to their destination. The airport in Kathmandu was closed for some time. After the emergency landing of the aircraft, flight operations from the airport became normal.
