Hyderabad: Telangana minister Konda Surekha, who was in the news for her comments on the divorce of actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya, has withdrawn her statement after the controversy escalated. It is worth noting that the minister had blamed opposition BRS leader KT Rama Rao for the divorce of the two.
Following this, both Samantha Prabhu and Chaitanya opposed the minister's statement and said that they had decided to separate by mutual consent. The Telugu cinema industry also came out in support of the former couple and criticized the minister's statement. Many cine personalities like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Jr NTR, Venkatesh, Prakash Raj and Khushboo targeted the minister's remarks.
The minister clarified
Seeing the controversy escalating, the Telangana unit of the Congress urged the cinema industry to put an end to the issue, citing Surekha's withdrawal of her controversial remarks. Speaking to the media, Surekha said she had to name the actors after she got emotional over comments made about her by BRS working president Rama Rao.
Surekha said, 'I had to criticise him (Rama Rao). I have no personal enmity with anyone. Naming the family happened unintentionally. I felt very bad after seeing her tweet (Samantha's Instagram). Only last night I posted a message unconditionally withdrawing my comment.'
Samantha criticized
Earlier, Samantha, opposing the minister's statement, wrote on Instagram story that there was no political conspiracy behind her separation from Chaitanya. At the same time, in his note shared on Instagram, Chaitanya said that divorce was one of the most painful and unfortunate decisions of his life and Surekha's claims were ridiculous.
Samantha requested the minister to be responsible and respect the privacy of individuals. She wrote that divorce is their personal matter and she requests the minister to refrain from speculating about it.
