The pilot of Alliance Air flight number 9I821 from Delhi to Shimla reported a technical fault in the brakes of the plane while landing at Shimla airport on Monday morning. All 44 passengers including Himachal Pradesh Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri and DGP Dr. Atul Verma were on board the plane. According to Shimla airport sources, all 44 passengers including the Deputy CM of Himachal Pradesh are safe. The plane has been taken down for inspection.

Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said, "We reached Shimla by plane this morning. There was some problem in the landing of the plane. I do not have technical knowledge, but as a common man I can tell that when the plane was about to land, it did not land at the place where it should have landed. It could not stop and reached the place where the runway ended. The plane turned to the side of the runway and reached the place where it could be stopped... Strong brakes were applied to stop the plane. We had to stay in the plane for 20-25 minutes more."

According to the report, the pilot faced a technical glitch due to which the plane could not slow down. Due to this, the pilot had to immediately apply emergency brakes. It is believed that this quick reaction averted a potential disaster. As a precaution, the onward flight scheduled to Dharamsala was canceled after the incident. Alliance Air has not yet issued any official statement about the technical glitch or the subsequent safety procedures.
