The collision was so strong that all the sweepers fell down from the bridge. The bodies of three of them have been recovered, while the body of one sweeper is missing. It is feared that the body of the sweeper is not being found because he fell into the river.

Railway police said that the accident took place near Shoranur railway station on Saturday evening. The Kerala Express from New Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram hit these workers at around 3.05 pm. These sweepers were cleaning garbage from the railway track above the Shoranur bridge, a few kilometers away from the railway station.

The search for the fourth body continues

Police said three bodies have been recovered from the area while efforts were on to locate the fourth body, which is suspected to have fallen into the Bharathapuzha river. A team of railway police is present at the spot. "The staff may not have seen the train coming, which led to the accident, but further investigation is on," said an official of Shoranur railway police.

Two women died in Bahraich

Two women were killed after being hit by a freight train on Friday morning in Bahraich's Jarwal Road police station area on the Lucknow-Gonda railway line. Shahjahan (42) and Salma (40) of Jhukiya village in Jarwal Road police station area had crossed the railway track to go to the fields for their daily chores. On their return, they heard the sound of a train and stopped on the other track and waited for the train to pass. Meanwhile, another train (freight train) came on the same track on which both were standing. Both died on the spot after being hit by the freight train. Jarwal Road police station in-charge Brijraj Prasad said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
