A shocking incident was witnessed in Rourkela, Odisha on Sunday morning. A case of sudden firing has come to light during a mini marathon event here. After the firing incident, a young man was also shot, due to which he got injured. The young man has been identified as Salil Kumar Sahu, an employee of Indian Railways. After being shot, he was immediately taken to Ispat General Hospital, where his condition was said to be critical. However, later it was reported that his condition improved. This incident took place at Biju Patnaik Chowk in Sector-2, where the marathon was organized. There was chaos due to sudden firing during the event. According to eyewitnesses, as soon as the shot was fired, the young man was immediately rescued and taken to the hospital. 

Firing happened at 6 am

An eyewitness present on the spot said, "Like every morning, we were walking in the field of Sector 2 at around 6 am today. Like every week, a mini marathon was organized in the city today as well. Meanwhile, suddenly we heard the sound of a gunshot. We all ran away from there in fear, then we got to know that one of us had been shot. We immediately brought him to the hospital. After bringing him to the hospital, we came to know that his name is Salil Kumar Sahu and he is a railway employee. The doctor sent him for an X-ray. After the report came, the doctor said that the injury is not very serious and Salil will recover soon."

Police engaged in investigation

After getting information about the incident, the police also reached the spot and started investigation. City DSP also visited the spot. Police says, "We got information that someone has been shot in Sector 2. As soon as we got the information, we reached the spot and started investigating the case. The bullet has grazed his body. According to our investigation so far, some people were preparing for a mini marathon in the field of Sector 2 in the morning, when one of them got shot. Investigation is still going on as to why and where the bullet came from. We hope that all the facts will be known soon."
