New Delhi. Shaurya Chakra awardee Major Mustafa Bohra's mother Fatima Bohra said soldiers don't die but live "another life" in people's hearts. Shaurya Chakra is India's third-highest peacetime gallantry award after Ashoka Chakra and Kirti Chakra.
President Draupadi Murmu on Friday conferred 10 Kirti Chakras, seven of them posthumously, to Army and paramilitary force personnel for their indomitable courage and extraordinary bravery. The supreme commander of the armed forces also conferred 26 Shaurya Chakras. Seven of the Shaurya Chakra winners are also posthumous.

The President conferred the Shaurya Chakra posthumously on Major Mustafa Bohra of the 252 Army Aviation Squadron, Rashtrapati Bhavan posted on X. In October 2022, he made the supreme sacrifice for the nation and displayed exceptional courage and skill by steering the helicopter away from a populated area after it caught fire.
In a video shared on X by the Defence Ministry spokesperson on Sunday, Fatima Bohra, who belongs to the Bohra community, shared memories of her son and his National Defence Academy (NDA) days. She said, when Major Mustafa took the first step at the NDA, his resolve was to serve the country. Major Bohra's Shaurya Chakra was accepted by his parents.
