The student group that forced Sheikh Hasina to leave the post and the country on August 5 last year has now announced to start a new political party. The student group claims that this political party will fulfill the aspiration of a new Bangladesh.

The party will start with a grand rally at Manik Mia Avenue, south of the Parliament House in the capital Dhaka. Meanwhile, prominent student leader Nahid Islam has resigned from the interim government of Mohammad Yunus.

 

The desire to create a modern Bangladesh

Samanta Shermin, spokesperson of the Jatiyo Nagorik Samiti, a platform of student groups, said the students have decided to form a new political party in keeping with the new hopes and aspirations that have emerged in Bangladesh after the July 2024 uprising.
